Buddha didn’t want people to become Buddhists.
July 20, 2013
That might sound crazy at first, but..
Buddha didn’t want to people to become Buddhists, he wanted people to become Buddhas.
His last words were, “Be a lamp unto yourselves.”
His goal was that everyone be like him.. become a Buddha.. become enlightened.
But, some of his followers missed this part.. and turned the whole thing into a personality cult.
So.. there are many people who are Buddhists.. many of these actually worship Buddha.. which was precisely what Buddha didn’t want.
Not all of the Buddha’s message was lost. Some Buddhists understand, and do want to become Buddhas.. but it seems so many are just focused on Buddha, and being Buddhists.
That’s too bad.

well spoken truth!
I’m glad you like the post.
Ain’t religion funny? Better to laugh than cry about it, I suppose.
