automatic “likes?” the blog game?
Less than 5 seconds after I hit the “publish” button on my “searching for music online” post, I noticed that someone had clicked “like.”
No matter how fast people read, I doubt anyone could have read that post in less than 5 seconds.
This makes me wonder..
Do some people have apps that automatically click “like” for them every time a blog post with a particular tag shows up? I am beginning to believe such an app or other software exists.
What would be the point of having an app automatically click “like” on someone’s post?
Playing the blog game..
I am guessing that many people click “like” on others’ posts in the hopes that those whose posts are “liked” will then reciprocate.. head on over to the blogs of the people who clicked “like.”
Perhaps this is acceptable and generally practiced blog etiquette. Maybe that’s the blog game.. someone clicks “like” on my post, therefore, I should check out one or more of that person’s posts, and click “like.” Or.. to reciprocate, I could just hit the like button on a random post, even though I don’t like it.
Maybe, to get more readers (and more “likes”), I should go around to thousands and thousands of blogs and click “like,” in the hopes that at least some people will come to my blog.
Here’s the thing.. I don’t click “like” unless I actually like a post. I guess I don’t play the blog game very well.
Some people do, apparently.
I’ve been to some blogs that are full of posts which are loaded with broken English, terrible grammar, or just don’t make any sense. Some of these posts have 40 or more likes! Just what the hell is going on?
Maybe all those “likes” are from people who are playing the blog game.
And maybe some of those “likes” are generated by apps, and the people whose pictures show up in the “like” section didn’t even take the time to read the posts.
Hmm..
I sometimes experience very immediate likes. I imagine these are automatically generated. Silly really. I don’t bother with collecting Likes. I’m only interested in people who read and comment. I say this in About Me, but I can’t expect too many visitors to that page, so the Likes keep coming. I also get the odd follower who has never commented. Is this part of the blog game?
Hmm..most of my followers don’t comment. You are fortunate if most of the people who follow your blog drop in a comment from time to time (as long as the comments are good).
I think following is part of the blog game. Some follow blogs because of genuine interest. But other people will click “follow” in the hopes that others will reciprocate and follow them.
