classic comedy from…
Paula Poundstone! From a show back in 1990.
I’ve had a rougher than usual day. It’s almost 4 am. I want to go to sleep happy, and have been watching stand up comedy videos on youtube for the past couple hours. I started with John Oliver. He’s a witty and eccentric British comedian, who was on “The Daily Show,” and my all-time favorite TV show, “Community.” Oliver recently got his own show, similar to “the Daily Show,” called “Last Week Tonight.”
After John Oliver, I checked out a few videos featuring the late Mitch Hedberg. He was more odd and awkward than funny, but humorous at times. I was overall not especially pleased with Mitch, wasn’t laughing much, so decided on a sure thing. Paula.
She is still active in comedy. I hear her sometimes on the National Public Radio program “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me!” It’s an unusual game show. She’s hilarious on that program.
Here’s Paula from way back when.. not entirely clean show or family friendly, a bit morbid, but still, she’s awesome. Works the crowd like the master she is. Enjoy.
Nice post! Paula is great! Did you know she’ll be performing in Boise on Aug. 1st at the Egyptian!? I highly recommend catching her show if you’re able! 🙂 Tickets: http://knittingfactory.tix.musictoday.com/basket.aspx?Action=AddTickets&eventId=160956
Joy.. I’ve always liked that name. Thanks for letting me know Paula is still touring, and going to here and Boise! I’m on a tight budget, so I won’t be heading out to see her, but I’m very glad she’s still bringing happiness to lots of people!
Thanks for the reply! 🙂 Paula’s manager has a pair of free tickets for you if you’re able to use them. Just send your name to my email. 🙂
Very nice of you! You must have some connections! I found your email (or at least, I think I did). My email address starts with tomtinwhistler. I’ll send you a message.
