the mystery of mexican polka..

I’ve for so many years wondered how polka music came to be a Mexican thing. Some of the best accordion players are Mexican, even though polka and related music did not originate in Mexico. The accordion is not exactly an instrument indigenous to Mexico, and neither is polka music. So how did the instrument and the music become part of Mexican culture?
