wisdom from a sitcom?
“None of us have to go to anyone. And the idea we do is a mental illness we contracted from breath mint commercials and Sandra Bullock. We can’t keep going to each other until we learn to go to ourselves. Stop making our hatred of ourselves someone else’s job and just stop hating ourselves.” – Jeff Winger. Wisdom from my favorite TV Show.. “Community.”
If you are wondering what this show is like.. here’s a glimpse:
Ingenious reference humor (it helps if you can remember ’80’s pop culture), meta-humor, parodies (some are quite obscure or surprising.. and that is something I appreciate.. a parody of the documentary “Hearts of Darkness” and a two part parody of Ken Burn’s Civil War series.. both found in season three) great acting, fantastic scripts and a whole lot of political incorrectness.
Six Seasons and a Movie!
(Well.. we didn’t get a movie, but we did get 6 seasons, which is pretty darn awesome).
This show has been tremendously therapeutic for me for many years.
And yes, sometimes there is some serious wisdom to be found in various episodes.
I hope you watch the show. You might even be able to find the DVD’s at your library.
Enjoy!
