If you ever don’t want to give your real phone number…
I’m writing this more for people who have to leave a phone number for an online order, or some other formality, and not so much for people who like to give people in bars and clubs a false number.. in cases like that, it is best just to say no thank you..
When I was a kid, and I wanted to know the time, I was told to call the numbers corresponding to the letters that spell “popcorn.” I don’t think that works anymore.
However, there is one number you can still call to get the time, as long as you don’t mind it being in the Eastern time zone of USA, and also don’t mind it being in military time.
This is a number I have used for various online forms, like when I want to buy something, and the site I am purchasing from doesn’t allow paypal.
The U.S. Naval Observatory:
202-762-1401.
And here is the web link..

Now you can leave a phone number that isn’t yours, and it is still a real working number.
You’re welcome!
